Bob Patten Day
Brian Tenclinger and Leo Glass were on hand earlier this month as the Armour Chapter celebrated Brother Bob Patten's 30th Anniversary of service to Triangle. In honor of the occasion, National Council adopted the following resolution:
WHEREAS, Robert (Bob) Patten was hired by the Armour Chapter of Triangle Fraternity in 1978 as a "temporary" cook, and soon was offered a full-time position, and
WHEREAS, in 1988, Bob moved into the chapter house, where he still resides today, and
WHEREAS, Bob has served as an invaluable mentor and demonstrated true friendship to many Triangle members during his association with our Fraternity, and
WHEREAS, in 2001, Bob was initiated as a member of Triangle Fraternity, formalizing a relationship which had already existed in all but name, and
WHEREAS, Bob has known more than a quarter of all members initiated during the history of the Armour Chapter, as well as countless parents and friends of our Fraternity, and has served as an emblem of Triangle's stability in all his interactions, and
WHEREAS, Bob has been described as "the ideal brother: knowledgeable, intelligent, well-rounded, humorous, an outspoken person not afraid to speak his mind, and a person that will never settle for second best," and
WHEREAS, in 2003, National Council voted unanimously to present Bob with the Order of the Transit, Triangle's highest award for local service, now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Saturday, November 8, 2008, shall be designated as Bob Patten Day in Triangle Fraternity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that notice of this observance shall be distributed to all Triangle chapters in the hope that it may serve as an inspiration to current and future members and a reminder of the positive impact that one member can have on the character of his Brothers.
