Council appointed Dr. Les Leone msu94tdf as Approved Courses Advisor, replacing the Approved Courses Committee that was disbanded two years ago. The main duties of the ACA are to evaluate curricula submitted by the chapters to be added to their list of approved majors for initiation.
Guido raised the question of whether Shawn McCarroll should be given the Top Triangle Pin due to his position as a National volunteer very close to (but not officially on) Council. After some discussion, we decided to allow the Active Advisor to wear the Top Triangle Pin starting during his term of office instead of waiting until the end of his term when he would likely receive a Certificate of Service and formally meet the qualifications. If and when the position is added to the Bylaws in 2007 or later, this perk will be made official.
Council discussed the situation at Oklahoma, where the chapter is being pressured by the university to sign an alcohol policy that they disagree with. We have some concerns about aspects of the policy and its enforcement and are considering our options. We want to support the chapter but not burn bridges with the administration unless absolutely necessary.
